At corporate branding design, as at art, it’s difficult to price creations. Abstract and subjective concepts are mixed in this business. To be honest, I haven’t found yet the reason why that Dalí should be more expensive than this Picasso… Being an artistic discipline, pricing at professional branding design has similar problems. However, there are some objective tasks that can be estimated by working hours such as research, planning, corporate material design, etc.
At professional branding design, as at art, it’s difficult to price creations
Not always a getting a good logo means spending a lot of money. Nevertheless, getting a cheap good one always means you were exptremely luky, becuse it doesn’t happen very often. I’ve selected some of the most relevant professional branding designs and their prices to make you easier to understand how difficult is to calculate an average estimation:
Nike – $35
Next – $100,000
London 2012 – $620,000
Pepsi – $1,100,000
BBC – $1,800,000
ANZ – $14,000,000
Make no mistake, you usually get what you pay for
Althoug there’re some real cases such as Coca-Cola ($0), Twitter ($15) or Nike ($35), make no mistake, not very often do cheap branding work in the same way. Notice that some of those cheap designers were great branding designers in an early stage of their career. So it was very lucky of these companies to find them at this moment. After a few years, these guys where demanding fortunes for the same thing that they did for 30 bucks.
The naked true is that you get what you pay for. This silly world is full of bad logos, cheap designers and good companies wasting their potential because of a tight branding. At the end your brand identity will be always the face of your product. So make sure you choose the right dentist to show a nice welcome smile to your customers.
